A full theory of syntax was used to create the NLP parser developed by Philip A. Bralich, Ph.D. and Derek Bickerton, Ph.D. via Ergo Linguistic Technologies. The full theory and the parsing method are described in the following patent abstract, where essentially human syntax was patented. This patent and the theory therein contained is available for discussion and review and perhaps free distribution of the software that was developed. I do not want to distribute this to a collection of linguistic software or to an individual who is merely looking to explore something, but would be happy to distribute it to anyone with the equipment and the personnel to give it a proper exploration and would be able to exploit and develop it if that exploration bore fruit. Here is the abstract. A method and apparatus for natural language parsing are described. The invention includes the steps of retrieving an input string, and performing a dictionary look-up for each word in the input string to form a correspondence between each word and a dictionary entry. The dictionary entry provides lexical features of the word. The associating step is performed according to predetermined selection restriction rules. The steps of processing the words and associating a selected word are repeated until all words of the input string have been processed. Inventors: Bralich; Phillip A.
