Those of us who work regularly with endangered languages are often frustrated at the gap between the rhetoric of institutions said to be interested in this area and the reality on the ground. Following the Third West Kainji Languages Workshop in Kontagora, March 5-7th 2012, we thought it would be useful to broadcast direct appeals from speakers of such languages for help with research and development. These can be seen at; Wuri http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=372PkwyyMu8&feature=related Shuba http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=tdmF_RTum2w&feature=related Timiin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0XAqIsitkw&feature=related Kambari http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs5mhnbhlxs The first three are previously unrecorded and undocumented languages. The Kambari video introduces the literacy project for the TsiShingini language, which would also benefit from further work. If you believe you have resources and expertise to help these communities, please get in touch with Roger Blench, Kay Williamson Educational Foundation at rogerblench yahoo.co.uk
