Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,
We are delighted to announce that LINGUIST supporters from across the Atlantic have come out in droves! We can hardly believe it, but our donors in Europe hail from 21 countries this year and have given over $7000!
Donations have been flying across the Atlantic this year in the 2012 Grad School Challenge, but don't think we wouldn't love it if they kept on coming:
A total of 7 schools from Europe have given over $200 this year:
1. University of Cambridge, United Kingdom $545 2. University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom $391 3. University of Tromsø, Norway $315 4. Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain $296 5. Leiden University Centre for Linguistics, Netherlands $286 6. Universität Leipzig, Germany $250 7. Newcastle University, United Kingdom $220
And what would our regional challenge be if we didn't recogize the home countries of all of our supporters from Europe? Below, are all the countries and their totals-- a veritable world map of donations!
United Kingdom ($1932), Germany ($1249), Netherlands ($658), Spain ($656), France ($625), Russia ($425), Belgium ($395), Norway ($345), Finland ($150), Italy ($135), Sweden ($130), Malta ($100), Switzerland ($100), Austria ($90), Poland ($90), Denmark ($80), Luxembourg ($50), Lithuania ($36), Slovenia ($35), Serbia ($20), Croatia ($10)
But wait-- there's still time left to support your school and bolster your region in the Grad School Challenge! We thank you heartily for your support!

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.
