The II International Congress on Dialectology and Sociolinguistics will be held in Belém-Pa- Brazil during September 24-27, 2012. It aims at discussing fundamental advances in the fields of dialectology and sociolinguistics. The general theme this year is 'Linguistic Diversity and Educational Policies'. The II ICDS will honor one of our famous linguists: Vanderci Aguilera de Andrade. --Dialectology: Linguistics atlas, Prosodic atlas and Toponymy Atlas, Interdialetal variation, Digital cartography, etc. -Sociolinguistics: Linguistics variation, theory of variation, sociolinguistics education and others. -Diversity and Linguistic Description: Indigenous language, sign language, orality studies, languages in danger of disappearing. Language in contact, contrastive linguistics, ecolinguistics among others. -Lexicology, terminology and socioterminology: Policy deployment terminology, monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, school dictionaries, Thesaurus, automatic processing of terminological data bank, electronic dictionaries among others. - Language Planning. Teaching and learning L1, L2 or L3, orthography agreement etc.
