Abstract:

La langue mongole, malgré le haut intérêt qu'offre son étude au point de vue de
l'histoire de l'Asie centrale, ne semble pas jusqu'à ce jour avoir attiré de façon
continue l'attention des philologues. C'est pour tenter de combler cette lacune
que j'ai entrepris de réunir ces éléments de grammaire sous la direction éclairée
de Monseigneur Bermyn, vicaire apostolique des Ordoss. Les idiomes mongols,
c'est-à-dire le kalmouck, - le bouriate, - le mongol proprement dit, qui ne
diffèrent entre eux que par des règles de grammaire ou de syntaxe, forment une
famille que l'on classe dans le groupe des langues tatares et qui se rattache
ainsi à la famille des langues agglutinantes (de la préface).
