Description:
ESL Instructor - Fall 2012 (2 positions) This is an open until filled recruitment. Review of application related material will begin on 05/04/12. Job Description: - Both positions are full-time tenure track positions. - Teach 15 credit hours of undergraduate courses in ESL per semester, maintain office hours, and perform service to the department, college and local community; - Develop ESL syllabi and course materials; evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies outlined in course outcomes; other duties as assigned such as preparing documentation for accreditation; - Participate in student advisement and recruitment activities, and curricular/program development; - Participate in program/division meetings and other related activities. Required Qualifications: - Master's degree in TESOL or closely-related field (linguistics, second/foreign language acquisition and pedagogy) from a regionally-accredited college/university; - Three years of full-time or Five years of part-time (within last six years) teaching ESL reading, writing, listening/speaking, and integrated skills courses at a community college or college-level credit-bearing ESL program; - Experience in multi-media instruction, course/learning management systems, and/or web-based ESL distance education; - Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills consistent with those of an educated native English speaker. Preferred Qualifications: - Recent (within last three years) presentations and/or attendance at state and/or national TESOL or other related conferences (i.e. TESOL, NAFSA, AAAL) - Experience in ESL curriculum/program development, program assessment and accreditation - Oral and written fluency in a second language or a minimum of one year experience teaching English abroad Required Documents: Required documents (Cover Letter, Resume, and Transcripts) must be attached directly to the online application at the application URL below.
