The Faculty of Linguistics, Literary and Cultural Studies (Humanities II) at Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany invites applications for a tenured full professor (pay scale W3) in Translation-Oriented Language Technology The position is located at the Institute for Applied Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting, one of the few academic sites in Germany for translation studies with a special focus on language technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for academic duties in research and teaching in translation-oriented language technology such as machine/machine-aided translation, translation memories, terminology extraction and management, and process management. Expertise in digital research infrastructures, e-humanities or empirical linguistic methods is desirable. Candidates are required to have a proven record in acquiring and leading national and international research projects and are expected to contribute to the university's research profile, both at the institute and the faculty as well as across faculties (e.g. collaboration with computational linguistics, informatics). In teaching, the successful candidate will be holding courses in translation technology (notably machine translation, translation memories, terminology management, process management, quality assurance) at both BA and MA levels. An ability to provide some coverage of Romance languages is desirable. Candidates are expected to contribute to further intra- and cross-faculty study programs. A working knowledge in German is expected.
