The successful applicant should be a native speaker of American English, or have near-native command of American English, and have university teaching experience at various levels. The applicant will have an active research program, and will be expected to teach Bachelor (BA) courses in American English language skills, and BA and Master (MA) courses on intercultural communication focusing on Europe and North America. Applicants will also be expected to contribute to administrative tasks at departmental and faculty level. Tasks: The successful candidate will teach and develop teaching activities in American English language skills at BA level, and in intercultural (business) communication between Europe and North America. He or she will assist in supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses, and in co-supervising PhD candidates. The candidate will conduct independent research in the areas mentioned in the research Institute Centre for Language Studies (CLS), resulting in contributions to leading international publications. The candidate will also be expected to help raise funds for research projects. Requirements: - PhD degree in American Studies, Business Communication, Communication Studies, Linguistics or English Language. - Experience in research and excellent research skills, evidenced by publications in books and/or international professional journals; - Excellent teaching skills at undergraduate and graduate level, including BA and MA thesis supervision; - Team spirit and capable of functioning at all levels of more than one study programme; - Organisational experience and skills; - Thorough (near-) native knowledge of American English.
