African Linguistics Workshop University of Missouri Program in Linguistics Friday June 22 and Saturday June 23, 2012 To celebrate the visit of Professor Loyiso Mletshe from The Xhosa Language Dept, University of the Western Cape, we plan two days of get-togethers and talks on aspects of the grammars of African languages. Roster of presenters so far: Vicki Carstens (MU), Michael Marlo (MU), Claire Halpert (MIT), Michael Diercks (Pomona College), and Loyiso Mletshe (UWC). There will be an on-site registration fee of $25 to be applied towards coffee breaks and miscellaneous costs. Beautiful rooms within walking distance of the linguistics program and local restaurants and shops are available at: The Tiger Hotel http://www.thetigerhotel.com/ 573-875-8888 Ask for the university rate of $119. This is a small hotel; rooms go fast so please reserve well in advance. Nothing else is as nice or as convenient!
2nd Call for Papers: If you would like to give a talk, please send an anonymous abstract of up to 2 pages to: AfricanLx missouri.edu Non-presenters are also welcome to attend. To be placed on an e-list for future information, please send a request to the same e-address. Questions can be submitted to: carstensv missouri.edu Deadline for receipt of abstracts is May 7. Notifications will be sent out on or before May 19.
