Chair of English Language & Applied Linguistics, University of Lodz, Poland announces the 2nd of the annual series of conferences Meaning, Context & Cognition (MCC 2012) (to continue the discussions of MCC 2011, the first international conference in Poland subsuming cognitive approaches to pragmatics) to be held 22-24 March 2012 at the University of Lodz. Conference contact email: mcc uni.lodz.pl General daily-updated info: http://ia.uni.lodz.pl/englang/events/MCC_2012 New conference website: http://ia.uni.lodz.pl/mcc/ (being updated for 2012) MCC 2012 (2nd meeting in the series) explores topics relevant to the fields of meaning, context and cognition with the goal of the conference to be a forum of discussion and to integrate and promote both theoretical and applied research from the interface of semantics and pragmatics. The topics invited for the 2012 meeting include cognitive pragmatics, actional nature of language, language as a means to do things with words, linguistic interfaces, semiotics of communication, studies of cross- and intercultural contexts, applications of linguistic theories, e.g. clinical linguistics, language teaching, translation, media. Call for Papers: Abstracts (max. 300 words) are invited for papers on topics relevant to the fields of meaning, context & cognition with the goal of the conference to integrate and promote both theoretical and applied research (e.g. corpus studies, interdisciplinary research) from the interface of semantics, linguistic pragmatics and semiotics.
