Meeting Description:
The Workshop Acquisition at the Interface will be held in Tromsø, Norway, at the Center for Advanced Study in Theoretical Linguistics (CASTL), University of Tromsø. The goal of this workshop is to provide an occasion for researchers, who work on acquisition of phenomena pertaining to interfaces (e.g., syntax-pragmatics, syntax-semantics, morphology-phonology, and etc.), to present their recent findings, exchange ideas and address new questions in the field. Confirmed Invited Speakers: 1. Holger Hopp , University of Mannheim, Germany 2. Aafke Hulk, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands 3. Jason Rothman, University of Florida, USA & University of Ottawa, Canada 4. Elena Tkachenko, Oslo University College, Norway 5. Ianthi Tsimpli, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
Call for Papers: Submissions of abstracts are invited with reference to the following issues: - How do various language learners acquire linguistic phenomena pertaining to interfaces? - Is there a difference between first language acquisition, child bilingual acquisition and adult second language learning of the same phenomena? - Which interfaces are more/less vulnerable? - What is the difference between intra-linguistic interfaces (e.g., morphology-semantics) and extra-linguistic interfaces (e.g., syntax-pragmatics)? Anonymous abstracts should be a maximum of one page in length with an additional page for examples, figures, tables, and references. If the text box for abstract is empty, the submission will not proceed. - Please attach a PDF version of the full abstract in the 'Upload Paper' item of the form and leave the 'Abstract Only' box unchecked. - Key words must be provided one per line without any commas. Submission deadline: July 20, 2012 Notification: August 25, 2012 Financial Support: Details regarding financial support will be finalized after presenters are accepted. We anticipate that a small travel subsidy will be available to graduate students and post-docs who receive the highest ratings on submitted abstracts.
