Meeting Description:
The Colloquium serves as a real possibility to give an insight into the work done by scholars and for those who are enthusiasts of proverbs. On the other hand it will be an important lookout spot for linguists, historians, translators, folklorists, paremiographers, etc. to the fields of each other and to the work the devotees of proverbs have done. We can speak of an international heritage. The paremiological emphasis will be clearly visible in the aims of the Colloquium: O1 - To create an intercultural dialogue by means of groups in wide networks O2 - To discuss new trends in our communicational and technological epoch O3 - To increase initiatives for life-long-learning strategies in education O4 - To perceive a general view of the state-of-the-art paremiology O5 - To question how to motivate young people in cultural preservation and related issues O6 - To reinforce solidarity among generations
Call for Papers: The following outline of topics in the Colloquium is brought forth to encourage the participants to submit their contributions (papers, posters) related with paremiology: T01 - Construction of a common European Heritage of proverbs; a network of archival sources T02 - Education and interdisciplinary dialogue, by means of proverbs T03 - Proverbs and contextuality/intertextuality T04 - The question of loan proverbs and problems of translation T05 - Cognitive approach to proverbs (stereotypes, world view etc.) T06 - Origin and functions of proverbs in everyday life T07 - Information technology and use of proverbs T08 - Proverbs and intercultural communication skills; new paradigms for synergy and integration by means of mutual understanding of proverbs T09 - Proverbs and collective memory as reinforcement of solidarity among generations We invite papers (presentations or posters of various approaches to proverbs), among others, on topics indicated above. Presenting participants should fill the 'Registration' form for their applications by 13 July 2012. We also invite researchers, teachers, members of AIP-IAP and enthusiasts on paremiology to participate in the Colloquium and share the atmosphere, even though they don't intend to submit any paper or poster. Plenary papers will be 45 minutes long, including the discussion time (15 minutes). Section papers and theme discussions will be 30 minutes long, including the discussion time (10 minutes). The language of the Colloquium will be Portuguese and English. Thus at least English handouts (about key points and/or examples of material used) or other materials for presentations supplemented with English translations should be managed by the participants themselves. Presenting participants are invited to send us their abstracts, contact information, field of research, and the details of their stay in Tavira during the Colloquium. All paper submissions will be handled electronically by the email icp12.tavira gmail.com. Registration is open now for the Colloquium. For questions concerning the aims and themes of the Colloquium, etc., please get in touch with the Organizing Committee. Presenters will be informed about the acceptance of their paper and their inclusion into the programme by 20 July 2012 at the latest.
