**Please note the change in job rank - equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor" Applications are invited for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor) level position in Chinese Language and/or Linguistics at The University of Auckland, School of Asian Studies. This appointment is a tenurable position, commencing early 2013. (Vacancy Number: 14093) Applicants for this post are expected to have a relevant doctoral degree, a strong record of teaching Chinese language at tertiary level and a good record of post-doctoral activities in language-related research and publication. Candidates should have native or near native competence in Chinese and English and demonstrable experience of teaching and research at university level. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute flexibly to teaching in the Chinese programme and to contribute to postgraduate teaching in their area of specialty; to collaborate with colleagues in the dissemination of good teaching practice; to contribute to language-related administration; and to continue to develop their research profile. Applicants should submit a sample teaching video and accompanying teaching plan with their application. The School of Asian Studies is the only specialist Asian Studies department in New Zealand and also houses the largest community of academic staff and students in this field. It offers programmes in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Asian Studies. The Chinese programme is the oldest and largest in New Zealand. Research interests in the School are wide-ranging and interdisciplinary, and the School of Asian Studies fosters a pluralist ethos involving the various disciplines and values collegiality highly. In both research and teaching the School is well positioned within a broader community of scholarship on Asia both within the University and in the Asia- Pacific region. The University enjoys active relations with many of the top universities in East Asia.
