Description:

The Department of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Arts of
Masaryk University in Brno is seeking qualified candidates for a three-year
postdoctoral position in Cognitive Linguistics beginning 1 September 2012.
This department is a prestigious centre of research and teaching at the
second largest and second oldest university in the Czech Republic. The
successful candidate will be expected to help expand the Department's
spectrum of research and teaching fields to include cognitive linguistics.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. degree acquired after March 28, 2008
- Excellent command of English (C2, equivalent to CPE level)
- Publications in cognitive linguistics and related fields
- Teaching experience (4 semesters of teaching a minimum of one course at
the university level)
- Previous participation in a research grant project is an advantage
- Knowledge of the Czech language is an advantage (but not a condition)

Job description:

- Cooperation in setting up a corpus of texts suited for use in linguistics and
translation studies research
- Analysis of the corpus from the viewpoint of cognitive linguistics
- Publication of the research results in refereed journals
- Development of courses in cognitive linguistics at the Master's- and
doctoral-degree levels
- Organization of doctoral studies workshops

The successful candidate will receive a salary significantly above average for
the Czech Republic and full insurance, as well as opportunities of research
attachments at centers of cognitive linguistics outside the Czech Republic.
