Description:

The Chair of English Linguistics at the University of Mannheim (Germany) is
looking to fill with immediate effect the position of a One-Year Lectureship in
English Linguistics (full-time).

The position is at the rank of "Akademischer Mitarbeiter/Lecturer" from
September 2012 until August 2013. The salary is in accordance with German
civil servants' standards (Vergütungsgruppe TV-L EG 13) and ranges from
40k to 45k per year depending on the applicant's experience. The position
may be split into two 0.5 appointments. The position advertised is subject to
the current job holder being granted leave in the academic year 2012/2013.

Starting in the beginning of September, the successful candidate will teach
five 90-minute seminar courses in each 14-week semester in core areas of
English linguistics as well as in psycholinguistics and/or applied linguistics.
The candidate is also expected to co-supervise BA and MA theses.

Applicants should:
- have an excellent doctoral degree or equivalent in hand,
- have demonstrable skills for high-quality teaching,
- have (near-)native English.
