34th Annual Meeting of the SW/TX PCA/ACA February 13-16, 2013 Hyatt Regency Hotel and Conference Center Albuquerque, New Mexico The Linguistics Area of the SW/TX PCA/ACA conference focuses on language and society. This year's theme is 'Celebrating Popular/American Culture in a Global Context.' Details regarding the conference (listing of all areas, hotel, registration, tours, etc.) can be found at: http://www.swtxpca.org.
Call for Papers: Proposals are now being accepted for the Linguistics Area, which will focus on language in society. Listed below are some suggestions for possible presentations, but topics not included here are also welcome. - Language and the Media - Language and Gender - Language and Culture - Language in Advertising - Language and Law - Code-switching - Language use along the border - Dialects - Conversation analysis - Discourse analysis - Language and education Abstracts of 250 words are to be submitted to the conference database at http://conference2013.swtxpca.org.
