45th Annual Meeting of the British Association for Applied Linguistics Theme: ‘Multilingual Theory and Practice in Applied Linguistics’ 6 - 8 September 2012 University of Southampton, England, UK BAAL 2012 will be held at Highfield Campus of the University of Southampton. The conference is being organised by the Centre for Applied Language Research and Modern Languages, at the University of Southampton. The University has hosted a wide variety of conferences over the past ten years including including the BAAL LLT SIG conference in 2006, the 2nd international ELF conference in 2009, and Sociolinguistics Symposium 18 in 2010. BAAL 1995 was also held at the University of Southampton. BAAL 2012 will take place at Highfield Campus, the main University Campus, which is located in the northern inner suburbs of Southampton (2 miles from city centre). The campus is easily accessible by car via M3 and M27. Southampton also has very good rail services to Southampton Central (from the southwest) and to Southampton Airport Parkway (from London and the north) and the Unilink bus service provides direct buses to the campus from the city centre and from Parkway. Southampton airport has a good range of regional services and is located next to Parkway station. Banks, Waterstones bookshop and a post office are located en route between Glen Eyre (the delegate accommodation for BAAL 2012) and the Highfield campus. The Jubilee Sports Centre on campus offers a 25 metre swimming pool and gym facilities (admissions payable separately). The campus is adjacent to Southampton Common, a 300 acre natural park excellent for walking/ jogging.
