The Abuja International Conference on Language and Literature is organised by the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Abuja-Nigeria and is a platform that brings together researchers for cross fertilization of ideas on intellectual and national development in all spheres captured by writers and critics towards national reconstruction. The 2nd Abuja International Conference on Language and Literature builds on the gains of the Abuja International Conference on Language and Literature which commenced in 2011 with a focus on Odia Ofeimun's works, celebrating the author's unrelenting zeal and determination to bring a change in the ethical, political, social and cultural life of the Nigerian people. The 2012 conference would again focus on the writings of Abubakar Gimba to honour him as a Nigerian writer whose works impact on ethnic nationalism and national consciousness, ethics and religion, culture, gender parity, security. There shall also be a 3 day workshop preceding the Conference from Monday 19 November 2012 to Wednesday 21 November 2012. The conference participation is expected to cut across disciplines: Arts and Humanities Linguistics and Communication Arts Literature & Theatre Art Psychology and Sociology Social Science Law Religion Political Science Keynote Speakers: Prof. Rasheed Abubakar: Bayero University, Kano-Nigeria Prof. Tanure Ojaide: University of North Carolina Charlotte-USA Dr. A.K Babajo: Kaduna State University, Kaduna-Nigeria Prof. Tanimu Abubakar: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria-Nigeria Conference Fee: covers only conference materials, refreshment and certificates of participation. Attendance would be strictly limited only to 15 people per class maximum, participants may only enroll for one Morning/Mid-Morning/ and/or Evening classes; minimum of 2 modules and maximum of 3 modules. Abstract Submission Deadline: 1st Call: 27 July 2012 2nd Call: 27 August 2012 3rd and Final Call: 27 September 2012 Acceptance letters: 30 September 2012 Intending participants wishing to have his/her abstract appear in the conference Book of Abstracts should get to the following not later than 27 September 2012. Paper Submission Deadline: Papers should get to the Convenor/Conference Secretary not later than 27 October 2012 if they are expected to be published in the Book of Proceedings which will be presented at the opening of the conference. Submission of Paper: Papers should not exceed 15 pages of A4 paper using the MLA style. A soft copy (on CD) of paper should be brought alongside 20 hard copies to the conference venue. Presentation at the conference is by SLIDE on MS-PowerPoint. Alternatively, papers could be brought to the conference venue by those whose abstract submission did not meet the deadline.
