Role: Senior Research Engineer (Data Mining and Pre-Processing) Location: Ulm, Germany REF: 8051 Role Description: You will report to Senior Manager Research Engineering in our Automotive research team. You will help us with the development and improvement of new generations of VoCon, the embedded speech recognition system for automotive and mobile applications, and the combination of VoCon with cloud based ASR (Hybrid recognition). - Contribute in development of new features and algorithms in VoCon, especially combining embedded and cloud based ASR for features like unified destination entry (UDE) - Experimental research into strategies for combined on-client and on-server speech recognition - Development of experimental framework for assessing and tuning the hybrid recognizer - Collaboration with server side speech recognition teams to improve hybrid recognition - Collaboration with engineering teams bringing research results into deployments - Contribute to the research tasks of the automotive team - Report research results in the form of technical reports and presentations - Implement the research results in the product code Skills and Experience Required: - University degree, minimum MSc in engineering, mathematics, physics or linguistics - PhD degree in a relevant domain is a strong plus - Some years of relevant working experience - Knowledge of speech recognition technology - Experience in acoustic modeling, NLU or statistical language modeling - Familiar with Windows and Linux environments - Good software development skills in Perl, Python, C and/or C++ - Fluent in English (oral and written) - Strong sense of precision and quality Preferred: - Additional background in computational linguistics and/or machine learning techniques - Experience with computing farms and grid software - Knowledgeable about small, embedded platforms and requirements of software applications designed for them - You are a team player, willing to take initiative, and are goal oriented - Speaking at least two other languages To apply, please visit the application URL below and enter reference number 8051.
