Emory University's Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites
applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead the development
of our program in Portuguese Language and Brazilian Studies.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching a range
of classes in Brazilian studies and Portuguese language, as well as
prior experience with and an active commitment to program
development, including study abroad. Of particular importance is a
willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other
departments and programs at Emory, such as History, Latin American
and Caribbean Studies, Environmental Studies, and Global Health, as
well as with peer institutions. Field of specialization open.
Master's required, PhD preferred. Native or near-native proficiency in
spoken and written Portuguese and English. Annual teaching load is 5
courses (3-2). Lecture-track faculty at Emory receive multiyear
contracts with the possibility of renewal and promotion, and
participate fully in departmental and university governance. For more
