The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at San Diego State University
invites applications for an Associate Professor in Spanish linguistics
and/or Spanish Language Acquisition (SLA) to direct Spanish Language
Program from August 2013. Other areas of interest, preferable but not
required are descriptive linguistics and the pedagogy of Heritage Learners.
The successful candidate will serve as Director of the Spanish Language
Program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Responsibilities of
the Director include: development of curriculum and testing aligned with
the goals of the New Standards and the Department; and supervision of
Teaching Associates and adjunct staff. Applicants should offer evidence of
administrating college language programs, a strong research agenda, and
teaching effectiveness. We are looking for a scholar who is committed to
curriculum development and to teaching a diverse student population. San
Diego State University has been ranked the No. 1 most productive
university, among schools with 14 or fewer Ph.D. programs. Send letter of
