Assistant Professor, Hispanic Sociolinguistics (#00004169) North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC) College of Humanities and Social Sciences The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Hispanic Sociolinguistics at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 13, 2013. Any area of Hispanic Sociolinguistics will be considered, with expertise in Spanish in the US especially desirable. Applicants must have the PhD in Hispanic Linguistics (or related field) in hand by time of the appointment. Responsibilities will include 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service. Teaching responsibilities will be four courses per year, including both undergraduate and graduate courses in Hispanic linguistics. Graduate student mentoring and directing culminating M.A. project in linguistics will be important components of the position. Collaboration opportunities are available with faculty in Hispanic linguistics in the Department of Foreign Languages as well as with sociolinguists in the English department's linguistics program. A strong candidate would be interested in collaborating with existing faculty on research on Spanish in the Southeastern United States.
