Knowledge is circulated through translation, more particularly through the importation of scientific and technical discourses for purposes more diverse than we usually realize. Many of these discourses serve practical purposes, of course, but all are more or less related to patterns of thought based on world views and philosophical stances that at times stand in opposition. The 26th conference of the Canadian Association for Translation Studies (CATS) will concentrate on the role played by translation in the journey of scientific and technical knowledge through language-cultures.

La traduction est un vecteur par lequel le savoir circule, notamment par l'importation de discours scientifiques et techniques, aux finalités plus variables qu'on ne le pense habituellement. Certes, nombre de textes ont une finalité pratique, mais tous sont reliés, plus ou moins étroitement, à des filiations de pensée mobilisant des visions du monde et des positions philosophiques parfois opposées. Dans le cadre de son XXVIe congrès, l'Association canadienne de traductologie invite à réfléchir au rôle joué par la traduction dans la pérégrination des savoirs scientifiques et techniques à travers les langues-cultures.

New Submission Deadline:
By popular demand, we have extended the submission deadline for proposals to October 9, 2012.
In reply to certain questions that have been asked, we wish to clarify the following point: in addition to papers addressing traditional scientific fields, we welcome proposals dealing with social sciences and the humanities, that is to say the whole of human knowledge and technical know-hows.

À la demande de plusieurs, nous reportons la date de soumission des propositions de communication au 9 octobre 2012.
En réponse à certaines questions qui nous ont été posées, nous souhaitons apporter la précision suivante : outre les travaux ciblant les domaines scientifiques traditionnels, nous encourageons également les propositions qui concernent les sciences sociales et les sciences humaines, c'est-à-dire l'ensemble des connaissances et des savoir-faire humains.
