Dear Colleagues, The South American Phonological Inventory Database (SAPhon) is now available online in English (http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~saphon/en/), Portuguese, and Spanish. The site is intended to be a shared public resource that provides information on the phonological inventories of South American languages. The site provides three search functions to help users locate information: a map search, a sortable name table, and a phoneme search function. For general information about the site, please visit this page (http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~saphon/en/about.php); for information about the methodology employed in developing the database, please visit this page (http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~saphon/en/methodology.php). We are very interested in improving the quality of the data presented on the site by incorporating feedback from specialists, and we encourage experts on particular languages and language families to contact us (contribute.saphon gmail.com) if we can improve any aspect of the information presented. Please see this page (http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~saphon/en/contribute.php) for details about contributing to the SAPhon site. Please do not hesitate to contact us at contribute.saphon gmail.com if you have any comments or questions about the site or database. Regards, Lev Michael Department of Linguistics University of California, Berkeley Linguistic Field(s): Phonology
