Meeting Description:
The conference is organized by the Institute of Linguistics, University of Iceland, under the auspices of the Nordic Association of Linguists (NAL). Discussions on a wide range of linguistic topics are welcome, including syntax, semantics, pragmatics, phonology, phonetics, morphology, child language, second language acquisition, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics and corpus linguistics. Invited Speakers: Hans-Martin Gärtner (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) Alec Marantz (New York University) Elisabeth Engberg-Pedersen (University of Copenhagen)
2nd Call for Papers: We invite abstracts for 30-minute papers (including 10 minutes of discussion). One-page abstracts of maximally 500 words with an additional page for examples, tables and references should be submitted electronically through Easy Abstracts (http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/25scl2013). The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2012. The abstracts should be anonymous. Contact details (name, affiliation and email) along with the title of the paper should be included in the body of the email. Authors will be notified of the outcome of their abstracts by December 1, 2012. In addition to individual presentations, the following theme workshops are planned: Workshop 1: Language Change in Real Time Workshop 2: Foundations of Language Standardization Workshop 3: Abstractness in Phonology Workshop 4: Formal Ways of Analyzing Variation Workshop 5: Information Structure in Scandinavian Languages Workshop 6: Language Change and Linguistic Variation in the Medieval North Workshop 7: Syntax and Semantics of Adjectives Workshop 8: Morphosyntactic Variation and Change in Germanic Workshop 9: Sign Linguistics Workshop 10: Syntactic Variation in Scandinavia Workshop 11: Syntactic Issues in Language Acquisition Workshop 12: Argument Realisation of GET, GIVE, PUT and TAKE Verbs in Functionally Motivated Approaches For the sake of clarity: when submitting an abstract to a particular workshop, please add the name of the workshop in the left-hand corner of your abstract (as well as in the body of the email message). Submission of abstracts to individual workshops (like all other abstracts) should be done through Easy Abstracts (http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/25scl2013). Please note that some workshops have special abstract requirements.
