Department of Linguistics and Translation Professor in Specialized Translation (English to French) The Department of Linguistics and Translation invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of either associate or assistant professor in specialized translation, with a specialization in scientific and technical translation. Responsibilities The appointed candidate will be expected to teach at all three levels of the curriculum, supervise graduate students, engage in ongoing research and publication, and contribute to the academic life and reputation of the University. Requirements PhD in translation, linguistics or other related fields relevant to the teaching of specialized translation in the aforementioned area; candidates who have not yet completed their PhDs but have defended their thesis by the time of employment (June 1, 2013) will also be considered Teaching experience. Research and publications in the relevant areas Membership in the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) or another recognized professional association is an asset High proficiency in the French language. The Université de Montréal is a Québec university with an international reputation. French is the language of instruction. Starting Date June 1, 2013 Deadline The complete application, including a cover letter, résumé, copies of recent publications or a description of current research work, and a summary of teaching and research interests must be received at the address below by November 5 2012. Candidates who project developing research in the aforementioned specialized area must address this particular issue in their cover letter. Three letters of recommendation are to be sent directly to the department Chair at the following address below. The Université de Montréal application process allows all regular professors in the Department to have access to all documents unless the applicant explicitly states in her or his cover letter that access to the application should be limited to the selection committee. This restriction on accessibility will be lifted if the applicant is invited for an interview.
