The MA TEFL is a dynamic two-year program designed to meet the needs of an educational system in transition. In an era when English is regarded as the international language of business, diplomacy, scientific research, and other specialized areas of endeavor, it is imperative that the development of curricula, textbooks, examinations, and the preparation of future teachers dedicated to English language instruction be based on the most highly developed and advanced linguistic, pedagogical, and socio-cultural principles. The curriculum combines theory and practical skills providing students an opportunity to conduct research in the field of applied linguistics and language teaching. (Visit us on the web at http://tefl.aua.am) Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a PhD in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language Education, or related field. Documented excellence in teaching (including classroom teaching of English as a second or foreign language) is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses in at least two of the following areas: Curriculum Development and Implementation; Second Language Acquisition; Research Methods; TEFL Methodology. Candidates should be able to supervise graduate students' MA TEFL capstone projects, organize teacher workshops, and advise on aspects of EFL curriculum, materials development, and implementation. Previous experience in conducting academic duties in an international setting is preferred. Recently retired and faculty on sabbatical leave are encouraged to apply.
