Full Professor Communication and Information Studies (1,0 fte) The Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen invites applications for the position of Full Professor of Communication and Information Studies. The candidate is expected to use his/her experience and expertise to contribute to our teaching and research programmes. Together with the other professors in the field, the new full professor will be responsible for managing the Department of Communication and Information Studies and play a leading role in staffing matters; there will be several vacancies to fill within the next years, due to natural turnover and increased student numbers. He/she must have leadership qualities and must be able to create and strengthen links between the Department, the profession and the research community. Job description The new full professor will: -Provide leadership, motivation and supervision to the staff of the Department of Communication and Information Studies -Make a strong and inspiring contribution to our teaching in the field of Communication and Information Studies, at both BA and MA levels -Supervise PhD theses -Coordinate and conduct research in the field -Acquire external funding for research -Perform administrative and organizational duties within and potentially outside the Faculty. Qualifications The applicant must: -Have a PhD in the field of Communication and Information Studies, or in a closely related field -Have a track record of outstanding, internationally recognized research, with publications in leading journals -Have demonstrated the ability to acquire external research funds and supervise/co-supervise PhD theses -Have excellent organizational and teaching skills -Be fluent in English and have a good knowledge of Dutch, or be willing to learn this language within two years -Be willing to take up residence in or near Groningen. Conditions of Employment: This is a full-time, tenured position at the level of professor 2, beginning as soon as possible. Depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience, the salary will range between (minimum) € 4,904 and (maximum) € 7,142 gross per month for a full-time appointment (CAO-Dutch Universities).
