Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Arabic, an academic year, tenure-track position within the Department of World Languages and Literatures, pending budgetary approval. Major Responsibilities: -Teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in standard Arabic and colloquial Arabic language (taught in Arabic) and Middle Eastern culture and literature (taught in English). -Research in the field is expected and will be necessary for advancement. -Additional responsibilities include advising, curricular development, participation in student activities and outreach, and service on department, college, and university committees. Minimum Qualifications: -Ph.D. in Arabic linguistics, applied linguistics, or related field. -Native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English essential. -College teaching experience expected. Desired Qualifications: -Record of publications desirable. -Successful experience in grant-writing a plus.
