Description:

Nuance's Mobility Division builds innovative, intelligent and intuitive touch
and speech interfaces to simplify and enhance the way people interact with
mobile devices, applications, and services. Nuance Mobile solutions make
mobile devices and in-car systems easier to use, automate customer self-
service, and optimize the access and discovery of even the most advanced
mobile applications and content - regardless of technical know-how, location,
environment, or physical and literacy capabilities.

As a Linguist, you'll be working in speech synthesis environments that sit
between Nuance's Research, Product, and Professional Services groups.
You will be developing speech synthesis products for next-generation, hosted
speech delivery.

We're looking for someone who is creative, self-driven, and fun to work with -
especially in a fast-paced environment. Our group is unique in that we work
across all lines of business, which generates exciting internal and external
engagements as well as cool mash-up opportunities. Help us create the next
generation of Human Machine Interfaces that will be incorporated into daily
life.

Responsibilities:
- Mine and filter data relevant to speech corpora
- Prepare corpora for studio recording and annotation
- Direct voice talent for signal capture and corpus creation
- Version and distribute packages for external linguistic contractors
- Enhance product dictionaries to support data domain OOV's
- Work with internal tools and infrastructure to compile voice fonts and
associated databases
- Segment, build, and tune experimental voice fonts
- Manage and deploy Linux and Windows tools and server environments

Qualifications:
- 5-10 years industry experience as Phonetician
- Experience working with Text-to-Speech tools and products
- Some Unix text-processing (AWK, sed) and administration skills (Ubuntu,
CentOS)
- Python scripting and NLP experience a++
