Description:
This position requires the selected candidate to teach a 2/2 load in Spanish at either or both of the undergraduate and graduate levels; to be available for mentoring and advising students; to help coordinate and expand Spanish course offerings at our campuses in both Commerce and around the Dallas Metroplex, including the possibility of teaching face-to-face at locations in addition to Commerce. Candidates must also be able to coordinate and supervise all activities in the Spanish B.A. and M.A. programs, including developing new initiatives for recruiting and retaining qualified students. Additional duties include satisfactory engagement with scholarly research, and service duties. The ideal candidates will have Sociolinguistics with an emphasis on Heritage Speakers as their areas of research. PhD in Spanish required. Candidates for this position should have gained tenure at a previous institution with promotion to Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates' research areas must include sociolinguistics and Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and candidates must have an established record of research and publications. This position requires previous administrative experience, including experience advising graduate students. Candidates should possess a demonstrable ability to work cooperatively with others.
