The position to be filled will play a central role in the development of the Aleksander Brueckner Centre for Polish Studies, which is being established at the Universities of Halle and Jena, funded by the foundation for German-Polish Cooperation (Fundacja Współpracy Polsko-Niemieckiej). The holder of the position will be expected to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with literary studies, Eastern European history, and social and political sciences. Applicants should cover the entire range of Slavonic linguistics beyond the focus on Polish. In the context of interdisciplinary collaboration with the Centre of Polish Studies and with a view to teaching programmes, a research focus is expected in one of the areas “Language variation and language change” (e.g. Sociolinguistics) and “Linguistic knowledge and language use” (e.g. cognitive linguistics, pragmatics, second language acquisition), or in regional or area studies on “East-Central Europe”. Furthermore, participation in the Bachelor and Master programmes – mainly in the soon to be launched Master Course “Interdisciplinary Polish Studies” – as well as in the development of the teacher training courses is expected.
