Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral position in the
Department of Linguistics at the University of Alberta
(http://www.linguistics.ualberta.ca/), tenable for two years. The
postdoctoral scholar will work with Drs. Juhani Järvikivi and Benjamin V.
Tucker on projects relating to the processing of spoken language in the Centre
for Comparative Psycholinguistics (http://ccp.artsrn.ualberta.ca/). Primary
responsibilities include active engagement in the research community,
laboratory management, conducting research projects, preparing findings for
publication and oral presentation, and working with graduate and undergraduate
students.
The applicant should demonstrate experience in experimental design, basic
statistics and acoustic analysis. Experience with eye-tracking, ERP, Praat, R
statistical language, and advanced statistics (or some subset of these) is
desirable. An ideal applicant will have experience in experimental phonetics
and psycholinguistics. Citizenship: Open. English language proficiency is
required.
A PhD in Linguistics or a related field is required. The stipend for this
position will be commensurate with experience of the candidate and will follow
University of Alberta policies. Application review will begin on December 10,
2012 and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start
date is flexible, beginning as early as possible, but no later than April 1,
2013.
