Abstract:

This volume focuses on a key example of early modern Castilian colonial
historiography, the Décadas. The work provides an analysis of linguistic
discourse that fills a research gap in Spanish language studies. A widely
received text that achieved the highest level of contemporary prestige is
subjected for the first time to a systematic, historically informed analysis
of its linguistic and discursive constitution.
