Meeting Description:
This will be the second conference on language and gender relations organized by the Department of Philology of Silesian School of Economics and Languages in Katowice. The main objective of the conference is a reflection on the socio-cultural concept of gender identity, and its final effect will be a publication that combines knowledge about gender in terms of humanities. The organizers therefore invite representatives from various fields of the humanities (philology, philosophy, art, cultural studies, religious studies, sociology, psychology and related fields), in order to study gender from a broad interdisciplinary perspective.
Call for Papers: Papers in English or Polish are welcome. We would like the discussion to focus on the following issues: 'Gender' in the language, culture and literature Prototypical and stereotypical perception of gender Gender in the linguistic picture of the world Gender linguistics The concept of gender in the humanities Biological and socio-cultural concepts of sex and gender Gender in language acquisition Determinants of gender in language Gender and linguistic asymmetries Gender performativity Gender images in contemporary media Paper abstracts together with additional information should be sent before 31 March 2012 to our email address: konferencja.wszmijo op.pl
