The Symposium has continuously served as a platform for discussion to researchers interested in various aspects of the history of the English language. It hosts sessions devoted to the history of the English language in what is broadly understood as the Middle Ages, dealing with a variety of linguistic sub-fields encouraging formal, functional or sociolinguistic perspectives. This year there are two plenary lectures, at least two parallel sessions with section meetings planned. The working language of the conference is English.
