The Department of English Studies, section Theoretical Linguistics is filling an University Assistant with doctorate.

Time Frame:
- 40 hours a week
- Fixed-term employment for the period of 4 years
- Envisaged Job Starting Date 01 October 2013

Job Specification:
- Research in the area of theoretical linguistics with a focus on the syntax-semantics interface
- Participation in research initiatives
- Participation in teaching in English linguistics
- Support in solving the tasks in the section Theoretical Linguistics

Professional Qualifications:
- Completed PhD in the area of theoretical linguistics. Applicants should be able to prove strong expertise in formal semantics and/or syntax
- Excellent background in grammatical theory and visible experience in an empirical-experimental or corpus-based area
- Experience in the area of language change would be a plus (not strictly necessary if strong expertise in the other areas above is available) (desirable)

Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum Salary:
The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 3411.70 gross/month. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
