Meeting Description:

Following the success of the Northern Englishes Workshop series, this conference lays the focus on any aspect of English in the linguistic south of the United Kingdom, as well as Wales. Topics covered may include, but are not limited to, dialectology, sociolinguistics, dialect in literature, discourse analysis, historical linguistics, language contact with English, and any other area of interest to English in the south.

We are pleased to announce two plenary speakers:

Jenny Cheshire (Queen Mary, University of London)
Laura Wright (University of Cambridge)

Call for Papers:

SEW invites submissions for papers on any aspect of English in the linguistic south of the United Kingdom as well as Wales.

Papers will be 20 minutes each with a 5 minute question-and-answer session.

Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words to: southernenglishesgmail.com.
