Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; Language Acquisition; Semantics; Translation

Call Deadline: 30-Sep-2013

Meeting Description:

How do speakers of different languages perceive and talk about space and motion?

This is one of the hottest research topics in linguistics nowadays. Different studies from a wide variety of theoretical and applied frameworks investigate not only how speakers (native or learners) describe space and motion in their own languages but also which kind of cognitive mechanisms take part in their conceptualization. This workshop brings together specialists in the field of space and motion research and offers an overview of current research in this area with a special focus on semantic typology and its application to language acquisition and translation.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by 7 October 2013.

All poster presenters should register in order to participate in the Workshop before 30 October 2013.
