Description:

The Linguistic Cognition Laboratory at the Illinois Institute of Technology has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher (full-time) in natural language processing. The position is for work on a federally funded project on computational analysis of discourse structure and metaphor and their relationships to cognitive style and ideology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in several of the following areas: natural language processing, semantic text analysis, computational stylistics, discourse analysis, statistical parsing, social network analysis, and machine learning.

Candidates should have a PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, cognitive science, or a related discipline and must be US citizens. The position will start as soon as it is filled, pending confirmation of funding. The initial term of the position will be for 12 months, potentially renewable to a total of 36 months depending on performance and continued funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and expertise.
