Contesting Borders – Advancing Cross-Cultural Understanding through Translation
The University of Western Australia will hold the biennial Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) Conference. The theme of next year’s conference is Contesting Borders. We will be organizing a workshop of Translation Studies at the ASAA conference. The workshop is titled Advancing Cross-Cultural Understanding through Translation.

Call for Papers:
We welcome submissions from a range of sub-branches of Translation Studies, for example, corpus translation studies, literary translation, translation history, translation and media and so on. Submissions should address the important role played by translation in bringing down language and cultural barriers among countries and societies. All submissions will be peer reviewed. Selected papers will be published with an established academic publisher as an edited book.

Submission of abstract (max. 500 words): 1 February 2014
Notification of acceptance: 10 February, 2014
Conference date: 8-10 July, 2014
Submission of full papers (max. 7, 000 words): 1 April 2014
Publication of papers as an edited book: late 2014
