Meeting Description:
The Linguistics Institute of St Andrews at the University of St Andrews is pleased to announce its upcoming Postgraduate Linguistics Workshop. PhD and Master’s students of Linguistics are cordially invited to attend.
The workshop aims to be unique in creating an informal environment in which postgraduate students can share their own research and discuss broader issues in Linguistics with their peers and with esteemed academics. With this focus in mind, we are offering themed panels, a poster session and innovative sessions which include a world café event and a session on ‘Life in Linguistics’. Thus, this workshop not only provides a platform for students to discuss linguistic topics and to network, but ultimately aims to develop future researchers in the field.
2nd Call for Papers:
Interested students should submit an abstract of no more than 300 words (not including references) to pgling st-andrews.ac.uk by February 15, 2013. This should detail the student’s research interests and should indicate whether the student wishes to discuss his or her research during (i) a themed panel and/or (ii) the poster session. Submissions in all areas of Linguistics are welcomed and may be in Word or PDF format.
Please note that there are also three bursaries available (of £30 each) to help towards the costs of travel. Should students wish to apply for a travel bursary, they should attach a brief description (of no more than 300 words) of why they believe themselves to be eligible.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. All participants are invited to join us for dinner on the evening of the workshop at the cost of £20 per head. Further details will be provided in due course.
Any enquiries should be made to the Organising Committee at the following address:
