Call Deadline: 31-Jul-2013

MTM will publish a special issue on Translation in an Age of Austerity in January 2014 (issue n°5) and is inviting contributions on any aspect of the area. Suggested topics might relate to but are not limited to:

-Sociocultural aspects of translation.
-The professional status of translators and 'amateur' translation
-Machine translation with post-editing
-Agents of power and power relations in translation.
-Globalization, colonization and cannibalization.
-Terminological aspects of austerity, i.e. neologisms, loans and calques
-New trends such as crowdsourcing and activism and their effects on the translation profession.
-The impact of austerity on language policy and multilingualism, i.e. in the EU.
-Pedagogical implications of austerity.

We welcome contributions of full length papers (between 4k-5k words not including endnotes and references), as well as book reviews (500-800 words).

-All contributions will be peer-reviewed.
-Contributions are welcome in one of the following languages: English, German and French.
-All articles must be accompanied by an abstract of about 200 words in English.
-Please send contributions to guest editors Margaret Rogers at m.rogerssurrey.ac.uk or Vilelmini Sosoni at sossonidflti.gr with the Subject line MTM Issue 5 by July 31st 2013.
