XLingPaper is a way to author and archive linguistic papers or books using XML. One marks up the content of the linguistic document and then it can be output in multiple ways (PDF, Word 2003, Open Office, web page, EPUB). It deals with many, if not most, of the common bothersome issues linguists face when writing papers and books. It makes handling these issues much easier.
XLingPaper runs on Windows XP, Windows 7, MacOS X 10.4+, and Linux (and possibly other varieties of Unix).
It is freeware although it runs using the XMLmind XML Editor. If one works for a non-profit or uses this editor for personal use, one may use the Personal Edition of the XMLmind XML Editor for free. Otherwise, one must purchase a license.
It does not have any import capabilities, but it does output to PDF, Word 2003, Open Office Writer, web page, and EPUB formats.
See http://www.xlingpaper.org/ for more details, demo movies, etc.
