Learn Romanian in Sibiu, Romania/ Sibiu, Romania Host Institution: Rolang School Website: http://rolang.ro/Romanian-summer-school.php Dates: 29-Jul-2013 - 09-Aug-2013 Location: Sibiu, Romania Focus: The language program includes 30 hours of class courses and 6 hours of immersion course.The course curriculum is adapted to the students, with favourite topics arranged around their interests. The teaching method is based on communication. Conversations and communication activities alternate with comprehension, vocabulary and grammar exercises. Minimum Education Level: No Minimum Description: ROLANG School organizes the summer school on Romanian language in the city of Sibiu in association with the Faculty of Journalism of the "Lucian Blaga" University, Sibiu. Formerly the centre of the Transylvanian Saxons, the old city of Sibiu was ranked as "Europe's 8th most idyllic place to live" by Forbes and was designated a European Capital of Culture for the year 2007, in tandem with Luxembourg. Participants will attend museums in Sibiu, internationally awarded Romanian film screenings and classical music concerts once a week. An optional trip to Sighișoara (located at a distance of 91 km from Sibiu) will be organized on Saturday, August 3, 2013. The hours are structured as follows: * 30 hours of class courses * 6 hours of immersion course - The beginner level (A1 and A2 level) develops basic communication skills in Romanian by learning familiar everyday phrases and words and basic grammar notions. - The intermediate level (B1 and B2 level) develops skills such as communication about familiar topics, understanding texts with a high frequency in conversation, writing messages or short compositions describing feelings, emotions and impressions. - The advanced level (C1 and C2 level) aims at developing spontaneous conversations on various topics, comprehension of long and complex texts or compositions, understanding of spoken Romanian language. The minimum number of students for each group is 5 with a maximum of 9. The course materials are based on ROLANG manual, "Learn Romanian. Apprenez le Roumain" by Mona Moldoveanu Pologea (manual, exercise book, audio CD). Other video and audio materials will also be used. The instructors are PhD holders, authors of Romanian manuals for foreigners and University of Bucharest teachers.
