The Spanish Linguistics Graduate Students at Arizona State University are honored to invite you to our third annual Hispanic & Luso-Brazilian Linguistics Conference. The conference offers an opportunity for graduate students of Spanish and Portuguese linguistics to share their current research. Our keynote speakers will be Dr. Kim Potowski (Spanish Heritage Language Acquisition) & Dr. Rena Torres Cacollous (Sociolinguistics).

2nd Call for Papers:

3rd Annual Hispanic & Luso-Brazilian Linguistics Conference
March 28-29, 2014
Arizona State University, Tempe campus

The conference calls for linguistic analyses of all Spanish & Portuguese varieties, including the Iberian Peninsula, Hispanic America, the United States & Africa. Empirical, historical or theoretical studies are welcome. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

- Dialectology
- Language contact
- Portuguese linguistics
- Sociolinguistics
- Bilingualism
- Syntax and semantics
- Code-switching
- Pragmatics
- SLA and acquisition of 3rd languages
- Spanish in the US
- Historical & comparative linguistics
- Phonetics & phonology
- Morphology
- Applied linguistics

Participants should send their abstracts to asulingconfgmail.com. The subject of the email should read 'Conference Abstract.' Please include the following information in the body of the email: Title of presentation, an abstract of the presentation (250 word max) in English, Spanish or Portuguese, author and school, and email address.

Extended deadline for abstract submission is February 7, 2014, presenters will be notified on a rolling basis. Presentations in Spanish, Portuguese, or English will be 20 minutes long, followed by 10 minutes of discussion and questions. The conference registration fee is $35 for accepted papers submitted before the deadline. The late registration fee is $45.
