This is a call for contributions for a book on rhotic variation in Peninsular Spanish, Spanish in Latin America, Africa and other regions where Spanish is spoken as the official language as well as a second language.

Some topics include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Qualitative and quantitative studies of rhotics and their realizations: assibilation, neutralization with /l/, velarization, deletion, etc.
2. Sociolinguistic studies dealing with the use of rhotics and its correlation to speakers┬┤ gender, age, educational background, etc.
3. Linguistic attitudes towards the use of the various realizations of rhotics.
4. Diachoric and synchronic studies.
5. Mass media and style guides, prescriptive attitudes or recommendations for the use of rhotics.
6. Acoustic analysis of the variants of rhotics.
7. Variation of rhotics and teaching Spanish as a second language.

Papers should be between 6000 and 8000 words including references.
