Meeting Description:

Teaching in Linguistics: Creativity and Innovation in Practice (TeLCIP) is a one-day workshop event aimed at those teaching linguistics in higher education. The event focuses on sharing best practice in terms of creative and innovative teaching of what can be quite complex subject matter. The workshop is intended to help teaching practitioners increase student engagement and understanding across the subject of linguistics.

Educators from a range of linguistic sub-disciplines (pragmatics, syntax, applied linguistics, phonology) will share ideas, interventions and tips-and-tricks for addressing teaching-and-learning problems that are specific to their areas. A Q&A panel gives attendees the chance to discuss ideas around improving their own teaching practice.

This event will be of benefit to those seeking continued professional development, and particularly useful for individuals who are currently working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE) or in Academic Practice (PgCAP).

The workshop is supported by a grant from the Higher Education Academy. Attendance is free-of-charge but places are limited and registration is required. Lunch will be provided.
