We are happy to announce that the Young Linguists' Meeting in Poznań (YLMP2014) will take place on 4-6 April 2014 in Poznań, Poland. The Meeting will be organised by the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.

The language of the congress is English.

The plenary speakers are renowned specialists in their fields:

Paul Baker (Lancaster University, UK)
Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland)
Johanna Kissler (Bielefeld University, Germany)
Gregory Króliczak (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland)
Heiko Motschenbacher (Goethe-Universität, Germany)
Srikant Sarangi (Aalborg University, Denmark)
Jane Sunderland (Lancaster University, UK)

Apart from plenary talks, the meeting will offer a spectrum of thematic workshop sessions and presentations in interdisciplinary linguistics. Among others, these will be:

- Paul Baker: Using corpora to analyse discourse
- Teresa Siek-Piskozub: Intercultural communicative competence
- Agnieszka Lijewska: Eye-tracking as a tool in bilingualism research – an introduction
- Joanna Pawelczyk & Łukasz Pakuła: Gender and sexuality in the Polish ESL classroom
- Dorota Jaworska & Anna Jelec: Language and gesture
- Rafał Jończyk & Halszka Bąk: Introduction to experimental methods in linguistics

Congress fee: €45 EUR

Venue:

Collegium Biologicum, is located in the city of Poznań, on a university campus Morasko. The CB building has lecture halls and computer labs. Within a 10-minute-walk from the campus, the hotel where the YLMP2014 participants can be accommodated is located. Both double- and multiple-person rooms are available, each en suite. Accommodation in a high-standard hotel in the city centre is also available.

2nd Call for Papers:

Due to numerous enquiries we decided to extend the submission deadline until 20 January 2014.

Young Linguists' Meeting in Poznań (YLMP) is a congress organised by and for young linguists who appreciate the significance of interdisciplinary research and therefore want to go beyond the traditional branches of linguistics. The leitmotif of the upcoming 2014 edition of the congress is:
'Directions in interdisciplinary linguistic research: Embracing diversity'.

Who can submit?

- Students enrolled in a BA, MA or a PhD programme
- BA- and MA holders
- PhD holders up to five years after their defence

Suggested research areas for block sessions are as follows:

- Psycholinguistics / neurolinguistics / clinical linguistics
- Cognitive linguistics
- Sociolinguistics and discourse studies
- Language and meaning
- Language and gesture
- Language and technology
- Language teaching methodology
- Language and artificial systems
- Translation studies
- Language, gender, and sexuality

Each paper will be given 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion. There will also be a major poster sessions.

New extended submission deadline for all abstracts: 20 January 2014
Notification of acceptance for papers and posters: 15 February 2014
Registration deadline: 3 March 2014
