School of Language, Translation and Literary Studies (LTL) invites applications for University Lectureship in English Language starting 1 August 2014 and valid until further notice.
The university lecturer in English language will provide instruction in the Degree Programme in English Language, Literature and Translation at the basic, intermediate and advanced level and will supervise and examine Bachelor's and Master's theses, especially in the following fields:
- Language skills (including pronunciation)
- The structure of language
- Second language acquisition
The successful candidate will also conduct independent scientific research, participate in supervising postgraduate students, develop the degree programme's and school's research profile and take on other duties.
According to section 6 of the University's Regulations on Human Resources (http://www.uta.fi/english/administration/regulations/Regulations_on_Human_Resources.pdf), a person appointed as a university lecturer must have a relevant doctorate, proof of independent scientific research, and the ability to provide high-quality research-based education and supervision.
The successful candidate for the university lectureship in English language must have an excellent command of his/her field and experience in providing instruction and supervision at the university level.
The successful candidate must also have English as his/her first language or have had English as his/her language of education. Proficiency in Finnish may be considered a merit.
